The below calendar is a list of events at Agua Caliente Park.

The combined Conservation Lands & Resources Dept and Parks and Recreation Dept registration site had become so full that it could be difficult to navigate to find what you are looking for.

Beginning with September programming, registration will be made by visiting www.DiscoverNature.pima.gov. Your account has been migrated to the brand new platform. Other than the new web address and simplified choices, the registration procedure remains the same.

Registration for August programs now listed on www.explore.pima.gov will also be available for registration on www.DiscoverNature.pima.gov

Set in Stone but Not in Meaning: Southwestern Indian Rock Art

February 11, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Set in Stone but Not in Meaning:
Southwestern Indian Rock Art
with Allen Dart
Saturday, February 11, 2023
10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

*This program is presented online via Zoom

Ancient American Indian petroglyphs (symbols carved or pecked on rocks) and pictographs (rock paintings) are claimed by some to be forms of writing for which meanings are known. But are such claims supported by archaeology or by Native Americans? Archaeologist Allen Dart illustrates how petroglyph and pictograph styles changed through time and over different parts of the U.S. Southwest both before and after non-Indian peoples entered the region, and discusses how even the same rock art symbol may be interpreted differently from popular, scientific, and modern Native American perspectives.
